Alright, 2 and a half weeks to go here and then it's home to Dallas for 2 days, then back to Rice for my senior year!  I am in Shanghai, by the way, and ahve been here for about a month, teaching English and getting used to working for a Chinese company.  By that I mean, learning to be flexible and do things with 5 minutes notice, realizing that "one thirty o clock" can mean either 1:30 or an hour and a half, acting like a literal clown in front of kids who don't get a word of what I am saying, and going to the most bizarre summer camp I have ever been to in my life.  It doesn't hold a candle to DCCYC although I have to admit DCCYC didn't serve salted duck eggs and fat meat every meal... Haha, at least the kids were so adorable and said the funniest things in English.  One of my kids, named Michael Owens (he chose his own name),  came to class drunk and passed out in the middle of the lesson.  They also did an end of the week performance which was this skit they made themselves, about protecting the animals, and it involved a scarecrow coming to life... heheheh.. yes, it didn't make sense to anyone.  It was vaguely reminiscent of our DCCYC skit nights, but way way weirder and with much worse grammar.  The highlight of camp was getting the "Best Foreign Teacher" award (out of 6 of us), and my prize was a CD full of English lessons - haha, hoorah, now I can finally learn English :)

There was also this really cute, fat 5 year old kid named Bob with literally no motor skills (he was always falling down and running into people with his chubby little head) who didn't like wearing clothes and would dance naked all the time.

I will have to put up pictures and videos sometime.. I promise, they will come.

Anyway, so I  have been in china for a little over 5 months and I am so ready to go home.  I have gotten used to some quirks, but some things here are just so weird.  Some things I have noticed a lot lately, in Shanghai...

1.  People picking their noses.  Do they not know that this is a weird thing to do in public?  They do it on the subway, in the streets, in lines,.. even in classes that I teach.  They just sit there and really dig in.  So gross.

Ok, yeah, so it was really just one thing.  There are more, but I am tired now and I am at an internet bar and tired of being here because the people next to me are smoking and its all in my lungs and there is no air conditioner in this hot hot building.  So more to come later, maybe.
